Porches

Carter visited the site this morning. In the following shot is the stack of roofing shingles. If the weather cooperates, the old roofing will be stripped tomorrow and the new will go on.
The basement framing is complete
Below is the bathroom/ laundry room
Also the bathroom, showing the shower stall in the far corner
This is the space that will be under the stairs to the main level
Looking into the mechanical/ storage room. Stacked in the corner are the four skylights, ready to be installed.
A couple of shots of the walk-in closet in the bedroom
Bathroom window opening. Windows will be installed by the end of next week.
The door opening from the bedroom to the main space under the kitchen
The space under the kitchen gets a window overlooking the field
The back porch landing. The stairs will be going in very soon
The crew framing and sheathing the back porch
The new front porch has been added too

To compare, the image below is roughly the same view from 1964. This is pretty much what it looked like until about 1978.

The new front porch is just slightly bigger than the original. I have also integrated the roof of the kitchen with that of the porch. Before, the porch roof tucked in under the soffit of the kitchen roof, and provided an inherent leaking situation.
Carter also took some shots of the second floor. This is the stair hall looking into the front bedroom. On the floor is the salvaged kitchen wainscot and chair rail waiting to be reinstalled.
The upstairs back bedroom closet
One of the few features left untouched is the second floor banister.
Looking out the back bedroom window to the bathroom roof below
The front door. Still works, one of the few
Thanks Carter. I am very impressed with the work and so grateful you are keeping an eye on things.
