Recognize anybody here? There are some whom I don't know, so if you do, please let me know who they are. I'm guessing this is the summer of 1969 or maybe 1970. This is one of the few pictures of the old barn.
From left: Bill, Big Walter, Grammy, Hazel, (unidentified man), Jim Burtt, Linda (?), Todd, Little Walter (Dad), (unidentified boy), Kelvin (unidentified woman, girl and boy), Ola, Betty holding Jennifer, Janice, Mom, I am peeking out from behind Mom, (unidentified woman), Lyle, Eric and Sydney.
Ever wonder where the name An Abhainn came from?
It is part of the family language to say that you are going to "The River" when going to the house. For example, "Where's Walter and Millie? They are at the River", or "Are you going to The River this summer?"
knowing of the Scottish, and generally European custom of naming your house rather than having a civic number, I translated The River to Gaelic. I got this idea from Joyce's house An Clachan in Gorthleck, Scotland. An means "at the", or "of the", and Abhainn, pronounced "Afon", is river. Now you know!
