Charlottetown

David and I spent a day in Charlottetown. Did a lot of shopping for the house, and then spent a lot of the day wandering around downtown and on the waterfront.
This building on Queen Street has been restored and we tried out this wonderful pizza restaurant called piato pizzeria on the corner, the place with the red door.

Charlottetown is really a beautiful city. Lincoln is fine, but doesn't have nearly the history or the charm of Charlottetown.
This is the old Saint Dunstan's Bishop's Palace. This is where the marble bathroom vanity counters for the house came from. In fact, if you Google image "Saint Dunstan's Palace Charlottetown", you'll find pictures of my marble countertops! It has been bought by Saint Dunstan's University, cleaned up, restored, and renovated as SDU Place, faculty offices.

Completed in 1875, the Palace is actually older than the current Basilica

As I have mentioned before when describing Orwell Corner, I am a member of the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation, and Beaconsfield is the headquarters of the organization. I have also talked about the Island Architect William Harris, and he designed this house in 1877. I visit it every year. Below are some detail shots and interiors.

A few years back the museum was completely wallpapered with William Morris wallpaper. Morris started the Arts and Crafts movement in England in 1859. His wallpaper company is still in business and still sells papers made from is original woodblocks. When I eventually get around to wallpapering the house, this is the paper that I want to put in the Parlour.

I want to use this wallpaper somewhere in the house too. We have it in our house in Lincoln as well. Its called Compton.

this is probably the most spectacular house on the Island

We stopped at a Starbuck's on Queen. Should be a Tim Horton's! Better coffee. The old Canton Café is still there!
The Basilica looks spectacular since they cleaned the stone
