Picture Hanging and Electrician

On the first Monday, a pair of electricians came to the house and installed all of the plug-ins, switches, ceiling fans and lights on the second floor, and the LED rope light in the kitchen. Below is the LED lights at the kitchen cabinets on.

We put some pretty coloured glass objects on the top shelf so they would glow. The light is enough to light up the kitchen at night with a soft glow.

Another Moravian Star light was installed over the stairs. David painted the hall Farrow and Ball's Farrow Cream, the same colour as the dining room. It really brightened up the space.

Dad will finish off the trim over the next few weeks and then paint the floor and steps in the colour Railings, the same dark grey that is on the basement steps.

The ceiling fan in the back bedroom. The trim ran out before the carpenter got to this room so I'll have more made later. The colour is Olive, with the light blue paint Skylight on the ceiling.

The front bedroom. The wall colour is called Lamp Room Gray, and is actually a light blue, but hard to tell in this photo. In all bedrooms, you can turn on the nightstand light from the door when you enter, and turn them off with another switch by the bed.

I ordered and shipped the picture hanging hooks and rope a few weeks back and it arrived the day we did. So while the electricians were working on the lights, I hooked up the pictures.

Above is a page from an original 1880 Meacham's Atlas. I bought it at a gallery probably 10 years ago and it has been rolled up in a tube ever since. Finally got it framed. Originally the book was in full colour but the reprints are in black and white. This is page 136, with several views including Murray River and Duncan Munn's lobster canning factory at Little Sands. The day after we arrived we took this to Michaels in town and picked out the frame and matte. Took only a week to get done.

These two reproduction paintings of Blue Boy and Pink Lady used to hang in the downstairs bedroom in Grammy and Grampy's house in Lakeburn. hey are perfect for the dining room.
