Yesterday was Remembrance Day. They call it Veteran's Day here in the US, and it doesn't hold the significance that it does in Canada. I have put together some photographs I have of our family in the service.
Above is James Hector MacDonald, brother to my great-grandmother Sarah Kathryn, along with Everett MacEachern, William Munn and others taken somewhere in Europe. I don't know who is who.
Uncle Danny trained in a surplus WWI uniform
Winnie told me she sent this photo to Grammy and Grampy before she came over to let them see what she looked like.
Danny and Sandy in England
Ray in England 1942
Ray and Danny were Gunners and served together
Ray sent this photo home and wrote on the back "This is our truck. Not very big, is it? It pulls the gun. Soldiers are Donald Nicholson (Springton, PEI) and J. Ernest Steele (Summerside,PEI)"
Ray and Carol
Jim and Grampy (Arthur)
Jim in training in Halifax
This was labeled " Gnnr. James Munn, Feb. 22 1941 Hopefield"
Jim, Grammy and Grampy in Hopefield
Jim was killed in action in Holland on October 30th, 1944.
He was buried in the Adegem Canadian War Cemetery, Belgium. Go to the link to learn more:

Jim is listed on page 401 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance in the House of Commons in Ottawa
Uncle Walter with Grampy in Hopefield, ready to go to war
And with Grammy
The day he got back
Jimmy Smith, a cousin of Grampy, Dan, Ray and Jim, also served and was held prisoner by the Germans. This was taken at the MacPhee's place in Hopefield
The family famous hunting trip that Ray and Danny took after getting back
And their brides
Sandy sent me this photo below last night. It is Garrett MacKay, Sandy and Arthur's grandson at the memorial in Murray River, taken yesterday, Remembrance Day. Sandy wrote me that Danny and Winnie would be so pleased. I am a day late posting this, but I figure we need to remember more than one day a year anyway.
