I had the urge to post some old family photographs again. I have all of Grampy's slides here and need to finish getting them transferred to jpegs and I'll start posting some. Below is Grampy, his sister Viola, their father's sister Lillian, and Uncle Danny, taken at the side of the house in 1965. I remember that lilac bush behind them. By the time it was removed, about 23 years ago, it was just about as big as the house. The slides have retained their color really well, and this is the best shot for seeing the colors on the house.
This is from another of Grampy's slides. I call the old house in Hopefield Jimmy Smith's while others call it Uncle Johnny's. We are both right. Below is Jimmy Smith and Uncle Johnny who lived together in the house, and neither ever married. Jimmy was the son of Grampy's mother Sarah Kathryn's sister Columbina who died when Jimmy was born in 1909. The other is uncle Johnny, brother to Sarah Kathryn and Columbina.
Below is Grammy's parents Jim and Mary Ann (MacDonald) Buell. They were 35 years apart and he died just short of his 100th birthday in 1943. This isn't from a slide but a good shot of them together. She moved into the house at the River after his death. She was a first cousin to Sarah Kathryn, Columbina and Uncle Johnny, which makes my grandparents second cousins to each other. Our genealogy is fairly simple because it's the same people over and over again. Some say that explains a lot.
